The NI Boys team went top of the table and guarantee a place in the final on Sunday with a 2-1 win over England South.
In the first set England South #5 took the game by the scruff of the neck and was the only player to jump serve. Neither team could separate themselves from the other and traded sideout points until NI achieved a two point gap and won the set 28-26.
England South came back in the second set and won it 22-25.
In the third set NI lead 8-3 due mainly to England South’s unforced errors but NI started to make errors of their own and allowed England pull back the NI lead to two points at 7-9. Good serving by NI #12 and strong sensible hitting by #10 gave NI their first match point at 14-10. England won the sideout but NI had another match point and it was only fitting that NI #10 had the kill to win the set 15-11 and the match 2-1.
NI #10 Adam Hunter led all scoring with 15 points from 34 swings, hitting .440 compared to a team average of .390.
NI now have an early start on Sunday as they are playing Wales at 08:50 and await Scotland West or England North in the final.
