The last 16 draw carried out by BUCS gave Queen’s a home draw against the University of York, offering a great opportunity for Northern Ireland to host such a spectacle of intercollegiate volleyball.
Queen’s University Belfast earned their berth into the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Volleyball Championships last 16 by defeating Ulster Jordanstown on Sunday 16th January. The University of York Men’s team gained their berth by finishing 3rd in BUCS Volleyball – Northern Conference.
The sides are separated by some hundreds of miles, and of course the Irish Sea; so neither team really knows what to expect of the other team until the first ball is served.
The winners of all the last 16 matches will meet at the BUCS finals in Sheffield on 18-20 March 2011.
Queen’s are looking to get all of the support they can get to help us reach the BUCS Finals where we can represent all of those involved in Northern Ireland Volleyball on a national stage. The QUB men’s team hope to see you at the Queen’s PEC in Stranmillis at 7:30pm on Wednesday the 23rd of February to cheer them on and scare the shorts off York!
