North Down Defeat Aztecs

Aztecs Eagles travelled to Bangor to take on a North Down side still looking for their first win in the new National League. The opening encounter was point for point until great attacking from Aztecs and unforced errors from North Down created a 7 point gap at 16-9. With continuing good use of their several attacking options Aztecs closed out the 1st set 25-15.

The 2nd set North Down regrouped and starting making use of their own attacking strengths to take a lead of 10-5 which they held up to the midpoint in the set but when Graham Bell started serving for Aztecs, a three point deficit turned quickly into a 2 point lead. North Down were making more of a fight in the later stages of the set but Aztecs remained strong to take the set 25-20.

North Down were dejected at losing the 2nd set while playing better and it showed when they started the 3rd set and immediately went 7-1 down. It was too big a mountain to climb and Aztecs Eagles were comfortable winners 25-17.

Thanks to all the support team throughout the year for their assistance in our home matches and hopefully we can go out on a high with a win in Ballymoney.
