Queens Ladies With 100% Record in Women’s National League

It all started six months ago. The beginning was edgy and quite insecure but the Queens Ladies worked very hard, improved a lot, showed excellent team spirit, persistence, professionalism and skills. And after weeks and weeks of competition they climbed up to the top of the National league, stayed undefeated and have not lost a set!

The Queens Ladies played the Aztecs Ladies this Wednesday the 30th of March.

The first set started very shifty in terms of scores. Both teams had ups and downs. Claire Dowey for Queens performed excellent serving and libero Juliette Bonet saved few strong attacks from the Aztecs girls. The score remained within a point to 20-20. However Queens Ladies woke up just in time and with two very quick combinations between the setter/captain Jenna Coriddi and middle player Joanna Wiezowska finished the set at 25-23 for Queens.

Due to excellent serving of Queens’ opposite player Manuela Baldan the team gained an enormous 9 points cushion advantage. This was the time when Tina Debeljak and Sarah Landstreet came into the game and demonstrated some good hitting skills. At the end of the set the Aztecs made a few errors and gave Queens the set at 25-14.

At the third set Queens’ middles Virginie Boidron and Kay Gemmert were blocking stable and with good service pressure from the whole team attacking options for the Aztecs team were limited. With precise setting from Caz Toye and clever hitting by the outsides Claire Dowey and Irena Mihneva the Queens’ Ladies were leading their way to the end of the set. The Aztecs caught up quickly and got three useful points by great serving and an ace. A Queens’ time out broke the rhythm of serves and Tina Debeljak attacked the ball over the Aztecs’ block to seal the set at 25-19.

The Queens Ladies team would like to thank the Aztecs team and referees for the competitive match.

With their 11th win this year The Queens Ladies Team secured their First place on top of the NI Women’s National League.

The team is very relieved, happy, satisfied and excited with their record achievement!

The coach Irena Mihneva would like to thank all players and everyone that supported, helped, believed in the Queens Ladies Volleyball Club.
