Lisburn Lynx clinched the 7 Financial Men’s National League title with a 3-0 win over Ulster Jordanstown. Even though league rival Richhill Raiders defeated Aztecs 3-0 in their final game of the season Lisburn Lynx were unable to secure the top spot in the national league with a superior set ratio after both teams were tied on points and set difference.
Lisburn Lynx head coach Chris Grant said “Brilliant! What an achievement for a new Club in its inaugural year. So many people have put so much time and effort into the Club; negotiating agreement for use of our training and match venue, purchasing equipment and installing court lines, fundraising, scheduling training and matches, not to mention the hard work of the players themselves, and it is great to be here now seeing the benefits of all that hard work. It is truly a Club effort, and one which we will build again on next season. We faced some tricky opponents and at times had to learn some difficult lessons, but in our last three matches we gelled brilliantly as a team unit and had some terrific individual plays and overall matches. I am very proud of the players and all involved in the Club and cannot wait to begin planning for next season. Thanks must go especially to our players, our Committee and to Laurelhill Community College.”
