Raiders Continue Winning Start

The Richhill Raiders team travelled to Portadown tonight to take on Aztecs Warriors.  The Raiders were hoping to continue their winning start to the season on the road, in the hope of keeping an early aim for the top of the table.

Aztecs having lost their first game of the season were looking for their first win, but early exchanges in the first set showed that they would have a tough job against an in-form Raiders.

In the first set, Raiders looked very comfortable, giving away few points to the Warriors.  Consistent serving and passing allowed the raiders to take a comfortable first set win 25-9.

The second set saw much the same story.  Raiders made some substitutions to help them maintain their form, and again strolled to a comfortable win of 25-12.

In the 3rd set, the Raiders lost focus on the game, which the Warriors capitalised on.   The score was tied mid way through the set, the youth and experience of the Warriors team allowed them to keep with the Raiders.  However Raiders team captain Mark Fulton got the Raiders focused on the game again to close out the third set 25-20, and the match 3-0.

Richhill Play their next game away to Civil Service on 9th November, and hope to keep the points coming in to continue pressuring the others at the top of the table.

Richhill Raiders would like to thank their sponsors The Normandy Inn, DB2 and Pattersons Cars for their continued support.
