NI Youth Girls Squad Come Home on a High

After 4 days of intense volleyball the NI Youth Girls and Boys came home from a successful training camp in Komarno in Slovakia. The girls played 4 matches in total ending in two 3-0 losses, a 3-1 loss and a hard earned 2-2 draw.

Girls Head Coach Ian Walker said “there were many great experiences during this trip and we had to fight really hard in places to win points. Volleyball is very much part of the culture here as one of their mainstream sports and that was certainly evident in the ability of their players irrespective of their age. We had a short trip to Hungary and we met Komaro City Mayor but on the whole the players really enjoyed the different culture and we picked up so many ideas from the playing style of our opponents. We were humbled greatly by their hospitality and kindness over the four days – they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and I believe that it has given us thorough preparation for forthcoming tournaments in Scotland and England. I’d like to thank so many people for making the trip possible but Chris Grant in particular who made the initial contacts with our hosts.”
