Role Vacancy – Media and Marketing Director

Role Description

The Board of Directors of Northern Ireland Volleyball will be responsible for developing and reinforcing the federation’s 2024-28 Strategy, joining a Board of 8 people, who act on a voluntary basis.

This person will have creative flair and be adept at creating content assets that educate, excite, and inspire new and existing participants to get involved. This could be an Instagram reel, social media graphic or a report on a domestic or international competition. The Media and Marketing Director will work with various partners to plan and produce a year-long editorial calendar that helps Northern Ireland Volleyball achieve its strategic priorities, namely: better support for clubs, improved products and services, and volleyball pathways. They will also collaborate with other members of staff and volunteers on communications campaigns, live streaming at volleyball competitions, and work on digital transformation projects where required.

• Plan, manage, and review social media channels, thinking about audience, key messages, and how best to tailor content.
• To work with staff on the production of newsletters for volleyball members. This includes monthly bulletin newsletter for clubs, and 6 monthly newsletters for referees and coaches.
• Create attention-grabbing content such as videos and graphics for a range of audiences and purposes.
• Assist with the creation of content for the website.
• Assist colleagues on key communications campaigns.
• Provide communications advice and support for other members of staff.
• Lead a group of people (to include volunteers, staff and contractors) to provide live streaming at competitions and events.

Northern Ireland Volleyball is keen to develop a board from a diverse group of people with a wide range of skills, experience, and knowledge. In particular, the organisation is looking for people with skills in business development, safeguarding, legal, corporate governance and external sporting context and relationship management.

 

Person Specification

Prior experience in a governing body is always welcome, but it is not essential – the key for individuals applying is that they share the organisation’s vision and passion for sport at all levels.

Desirable Skills include:
• Relevant experience in communications / journalism / social media / content generation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience to creating eye-catching content.
• Ability to work on one’s own initiative and cooperatively with colleagues under limited supervision.
• Understanding of current and emerging social media trends.
• Understanding of the communications needs of members, partners and stakeholders and the requirements to fulfil governance and contractual obligations via our platforms
